What “spells” success on any outdoor adventure? R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Leave No Trace is a set of seven principles that guide and remind all outdoor lovers to leave nature as they found it. These tips help explorers of all skill levels to plan ahead for their trip, act considerately of wildlife as well as other hikers and campers, and enjoy their excursion safely and responsibly all with the goal of minimizing their impact on the environment. Basically, it boils down to respecting the outdoors so that others – including future generations – can enjoy it, too!

On Saturday, May 11, Mast General Store Roanoke will host Take It Outside, in partnership with ENO, from 11 a.m. to Noon.

The event will include a Leave No Trace presentation by a representative from the Blue Ridge Land Conservancy, the Mast Store Roanoke’s community land trust partner. This non-profit organization protects 21,000 acres of land in Southwest Virginia, including areas containing the Appalachian Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Smith Mountain Lake. It also hosts events on preserved headwater lands to educate local students about the interconnectedness of Virginia’s waterways from the Roanoke River to the Chesapeake Bay.

Take It Outside will also feature FREE raffle drawings with prizes from ENO, Mast General Store Gift Cards, and other fun, outdoor-themed items.

Join us 11 a.m. – Noon, Saturday, May 11 at the Roanoke Mast Store for a morning to celebrate all things outdoors at Take It Outside, presented by ENO!
