Location: Kirk Avenue Music Hall
Kirk Avenue Music Hall & 101.5 The Music Place, are taking over Kirk Avenue between Jefferson & First Street. Under a tent, on a rocking stage the street will be transformed into an urban dance and concert hall.
Friday night's headliners include Carbon Leaf and Delta Rae.
From the heart of Virginia, Carbon Leaf captivates audiences with their soaring, energetic songs and well-crafted lyrics. Some call Carbon Leaf's music Southern, others label it Celtic and still others say it leans toward bluegrass or some combination of formats. No matter what your take on the band's sound, almost everyone can agree that Carbon Leaf creates music that just isn't heard anywhere else--and that's what keeps fans clamoring for more music.
Delta Rae brings together four voices to harmonize over music that incorporates all aspects of Americana – gospel, country, rock, bluegrass, and blues. Siblings Ian, Eric, and Brittany Holljes, along with their longtime friend, Elizabeth Hopkins, sing with a grit and soul older than their early twenty years would suggest. Harkening back to bands like Fleetwood Mac, the Mamas and the Papas, and Peter, Paul, and Mary, Delta Rae brings its own fresh sound and distinctive songwriting to a genre pioneered by such legends.
