Tickets for next Bear Theatre production Closing Arguments April 4-13 are now on sale
Exit, Pursued By A Bear – the Bear Theatre for short – is pleased to announce that tickets for its next fully-staged production, Closing Arguments, are now on sale via a link on the beartheatre.com website or on the Bear’s Facebook and Instagram. The Bear Theatre’s home is the Community High School Auditorium in downtown Roanoke.
This is only the second staging for Closing Arguments, and the first in the Roanoke area. Bedford County playwright and director (and pastor) David Walton describes his new work as “a family, a funeral and a lifetime of junk to sort through.” We all know what happens when a family fraught with simmering feuds get together for weddings or funerals – sometimes they begin to boil, and they do in this “dramedy,” with lots of laughs – and a few tears. “Clashing expectations and silly accusations make for a story that is funny, occasionally uncomfortable, yet somehow familiar,” notes Walton, who most recently directed another one of his own plays at Little Town Players in Bedford.
“Bear Theatre is overjoyed that our first new works production was written by a local resident,” says Board President Angela McNeil; “one of our goals as a new theatre company is to support the entire arts community. [This] was one step towards achieving that.”
