Jstop Latin Soul, based in Roanoke, VA, is a vibrant Afro-Cuban jazz project formed in 2018. Led by trombonist Joel Stopka and bassist/guitarist Brian Mesko, the ensemble delivers a fiery blend of Afro-Cuban jazz, rumba, salsa, and chacha. The rhythm section, featuring Latin percussionists Vladimir Espinosa and David Sandoval, drummer DeWayne Peters, and pianist 'Montuno Tom' Floyd, creates infectious rhythms. Recording artist Bobby Read adds masterful sax, Jamiel Allen contributes sultry synth and organ, and Willis Greenstreet provides intelligent guitar solos. Big Lick Latin Underground is an organization made up of passionate dancers who are dedicated to creating latin dance events in the Roanoke Valley.
