The Alma Ensemble presents “Welcome the Light!”: a collaborative concert alongside the Patrick Henry High School and William Fleming High School Orchestras that will feature the world premiere of a new commission by renowned composer Deborah Baker Monday.
On Monday, April 4th, in collaboration with the Taubman Museum of Art, Roanoke City Public Schools, and the Roanoke Arts Commission, the Alma Ensemble will present “Welcome the Light!” Patrick Henry High School Orchestra (Jeff Midkiff, director) and William Fleming High School Orchestra (Yi-Wen Evans, director) will perform a variety of works alongside Alma Ensemble and present the world premiere of Deborah Baker Monday’s newest work, “Welcome the Light!”
Deborah Baker Monday’s latest musical composition is a result of a commission by Alma Ensemble made possible by the Roanoke Arts Commission. Alma Ensemble is proud to present Ms. Monday, who will be in attendance at this special event, as well as providing masterclasses, rehearsals, and lectures to the students of Roanoke City Schools during her stay in Roanoke.
The performance will be held on April 4, 2022 at the Taubman Museum of Art at 6:30 pm.
The concert is free and open to the public.
