With the new year comes new goals! If one of your goals is to get more fit and active, we have compiled a list of places to tackle your 2025 fitness journey in the heart of downtown.  

Cirqulation Aerial & Circus Arts at Aurora Studio Center 

Located on Campbell Avenue, this studio takes all the fun and wonder of aerial and circus arts and intertwines fitness for all levels. The studio offers both six-week intensives and individual classes.

With a range of classes from Aerial Skills 101, to Acroyoga, Flexibility, and more, the studio has become a home for flying into a new fitness routine.  The studio is offering new classes in Aerial Hoop, Sling, Silks, Handstand & Flexibility.  There is already a waitlist for these limited availability classes, so be sure to join and secure your spot when they become available.

[CORE] Chiropractic and Wellness

Located on Church Avenue, this business specializes in wellness from the inside out.

Ferguson Fitness 

The newest addition to the Downtown Fitness scene, this gym atop Crafteria is for those looking to get serious about their goals this year.  This husband and wife duo have been transforming lives and bodies for over a decade through personal training and boot camps.  There are multiple new member discounts and membership levels for all budgets!

HUSTLE/HAVEN

This studio is for all the hustlers out there who also need a place to escape everyday life. You can find this social wellness house on Campbell Avenue SW.  

Offering multiple yoga and cycling class variations, the owners strive to embrace being a haven and offer different styles for every skill and fitness level.  Yoga classes range from beginner stretching to sculpting techniques in high heat. If higher energy is more your speed, the cycle studio offers a fun environment to embrace your hustle. 

In addition to classes, HUSTLE/HAVEN also has its Potion Bar which offers everything from your coffee fix to smoothies, tea, and more. 

Memberships range for every budget and commitment level.

HYBRID MARTIAL ARTS

Calling all martial artists! HYBRID offers specialized training for all different types of martial artists in the valley.  

Home to multiple Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts, the valleys only Muay Thai kickboxing program, and the oldest Judo program in the area, the staff at HYBRID focuses on teaching the core of self-defense without all the frills, all while allowing you to get in a full body workout. 

The facility is located on Salem Ave and tries to keep classes under 20 people to offer personalized coaching to everyone based on their needs and skill level.

Kirk Family YMCA

With a large facility located on Church Ave, the Kirk Family YMCA offers plenty to choose from whether it be on your own, in a group class, or in the pool!

The Kirk Family YMCA offers a variety of amenities including an indoor track, a heated pool and a family fun pool, saunas and steam rooms, and more!

The Kirk Family YMCA also offers services to watch your children while you get your workout in, so you can work toward your goals at your own pace.

Bick Lick Pub Run/Walk

Every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Big Lick Brewing Company teams up with Fleet Feet Roanoke for a Pub Run/Walk.  Those interested in joining meet up at Big Lick Brewing Company located on Salem Ave SW and sign in.  The group will then take a three-mile loop on the outskirts of downtown and the Lick Run Greenway.  A one and five-mile course is also available! Families and children with a guardian are encouraged to join. 

Following the run you can reward yourself, all participants will receive $1 off their first beer, seltzer or kombucha at Big Lick!

Elmwood Park 

Going to the park may just be the perfect option to get outside and move whether it's just you or the whole family. Elmwood Park on Jefferson St offers everything from a stretch of the Roanoke Greenway to the Peter Pan playground for the kids, to plenty of outdoor space for activities!

Rivers Edge Sports Complex

If sports is more your thing.  Rivers Edge is filled with options. It is located right along the Greenway off Wiley Drive SW and was renovated in 2020.  The park, divided into two sections, North and South, has two baseball diamonds, over a dozen tennis courts, football and soccer fields as well as a playground. This park is one of the busiest in the downtown area for a reason!

Roanoke Greenway

Sometimes all you need to get your body moving is a pair of shoes and open space!  The Roanoke Greenway winds its way throughout downtown Roanoke and Beyond! Soak up the city while taking a walk, run, bike ride, or more throughout the city.
